About Carlie Dinwoodie

Carlie Dinwoodie is an experienced Clinical Counsellor providing trauma-informed, evidence-based mental health services at Gentle Currents Therapy in Langley, British Columbia and online across BC. A member in good standing with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association since 2015, Carlie brings a diverse multidisciplinary background spanning more than two decades of dedicated service supporting children, individuals, couples, and families throughout the Fraser Valley.

Carlie holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from City University of Seattle, alongside a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from University of the Fraser Valley and a specialized Diploma in Speech-Language Therapy. Her clinical experience is deeply rooted in the local community, having worked with respected regional organizations including Langley Community Services Society, SOS Children’s Village BC, South Fraser Pregnancy Options Centre, and the Fraser Valley Child Development Centre.

Through these roles, Carlie developed extensive experience supporting individuals and families navigating trauma, grief and loss, crisis response, childhood behavioral challenges, parenting stress, emotional dysregulation, and complex family dynamics. Her therapeutic approach is warm, collaborative, and deeply client-centred, creating emotionally safe spaces where individuals feel genuinely supported, understood, and empowered toward meaningful healing and long-term resilience.

Clinical Care for Anxiety, Depression & Stress Management

Carlie supports individuals experiencing anxiety, chronic stress, emotional overwhelm, panic symptoms, burnout, compassion fatigue, and depressive patterns that impact daily life, relationships, and overall wellbeing. She works collaboratively with adults, youth, parents, caregivers, and high-achieving professionals seeking practical support for emotional regulation, nervous system recovery, and sustainable mental wellness.

Using evidence-based therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), attachment-based interventions, mindfulness strategies, and trauma-informed care, Carlie helps clients better understand the relationship between stress, emotions, thought patterns, and nervous system functioning. Her integrative approach supports clients in developing practical coping skills, healthier relational patterns, increased self-awareness, and greater emotional balance.

EMDR Trauma Therapy & LENS Neurofeedback

As an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) trained therapist, Carlie specializes in supporting individuals processing childhood trauma, distressing life experiences, attachment injuries, grief, shame, and trauma-related emotional patterns. Her therapeutic work integrates EMDR therapy with somatic awareness, attachment-focused interventions, mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), and trauma-informed nervous system support.

As a fully trained LENS Neurofeedback practitioner, Carlie incorporates Low Energy Neurofeedback System (LENS) technology into her clinical practice to support nervous system regulation, emotional balance, stress recovery, improved resilience, and overall mental wellness. By integrating EMDR therapy with LENS Neurofeedback, Carlie helps clients better understand and regulate the complex relationship between the brain, body, trauma responses, anxiety, and emotional wellbeing.

This integrative approach may support individuals experiencing chronic stress, trauma-related dysregulation, anxiety, sleep disruption, emotional overwhelm, ADHD-related challenges, and persistent patterns of hypervigilance or emotional exhaustion.

Reproductive Loss, Grief & Family Systems Support

Carlie holds a distinct clinical specialization as a Certified Reproductive Loss Counsellor through Life Perspectives. She provides compassionate, emotionally attuned support for individuals and couples navigating the complex grief associated with miscarriage, perinatal loss, infertility, reproductive trauma, and pregnancy-related emotional distress.

Drawing from specialized training in Level 1 Gottman Method Couples Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Carlie also works extensively with couples and evolving family systems navigating communication challenges, parenting stress, attachment wounds, blended family dynamics, childhood anxiety, ADHD-related concerns, and relational conflict.

Her background in speech-language therapy and neurodevelopmental support — including previous work with the Fraser Valley Child Development Centre — provides additional insight into supporting children, adolescents, and families navigating emotional regulation, developmental challenges, and behavioral support needs.

Academic Foundations & Ongoing Clinical Training

Carlie’s commitment to providing high-quality, evidence-based care is supported by ongoing professional development and specialized post-graduate training in trauma-informed therapy, EMDR, grief and loss support, reproductive trauma, crisis intervention, prolonged grief pathways, attachment-focused therapy, and nervous system regulation approaches.

Working within the trauma-informed and neurofeedback-focused clinical framework developed by Michael Dadson, Carlie provides collaborative, evidence-based care that integrates EMDR trauma therapy, LENS Neurofeedback, attachment-focused interventions, and compassionate mental health support for long-term healing, emotional resilience, and family wellbeing.
