At Gentle Currents, we know that no one is defined solely by the most difficult chapter of their life. Every person who comes to us is welcomed with dignity, compassion, and hope.
Gentle Currents Therapy is a place where the unique needs of our community are met by compassionate clinicians who combine skilled, evidence-informed care with genuine human connection. We believe healing begins in relationships where people feel safe, understood, and respected.
Every person who entrusts us with their care is welcomed with dignity, compassion, and hope as we walk alongside them toward mending minds, healing hearts, healthier relationships, resilience, and meaningful change.
Choosing a counsellor is one of the most personal decisions a person can make.
Whether you are reaching out for yourself, someone you love, or your family, you may be wondering not only what services a clinic provides, but also who the people are behind that care. You may be asking yourself whether this is a place where you will feel heard, respected, and understood.
Before deciding whether Gentle Currents Therapy is the right fit for your journey, we would like to share a little about who we are, what has shaped our work, and the values that continue to guide the care we provide.
Gentle Currents Therapy was not created simply to offer counselling services. It grew from a shared vocation — a lifelong commitment to walking alongside people through some of life’s most difficult seasons with compassion, dignity, and hope.
For nearly four decades, Jeanette and Dr. Michael “Mike” Dadson have dedicated their lives to serving vulnerable children, youth, adults, couples, families, first responders, veterans, and communities. Their professional journeys have taken different paths, yet they have always shared the same purpose: helping people discover healing, strengthen relationships, and experience hope through compassionate, evidence-informed care.
Jeanette’s journey began in nursing and continued through decades of specialized child and youth care, where she worked alongside neurologists, psychiatrists, pediatricians, psychologists, social workers, child advocates, and multidisciplinary teams supporting children and families facing extraordinary medical, developmental, neurological, and psychological challenges. These experiences inspired her to pursue advanced training in neurofeedback and ultimately led her to establish Gentle Currents Therapy in 2016 as an independent counselling and neurofeedback practice grounded in compassionate, relationship-centred care.
Michael’s journey has been shaped through child and youth care, specialized foster parenting, ministry, chaplaincy, counselling psychology, clinical leadership, teaching, supervision, research, and program development. Throughout those experiences, one conviction has remained constant: people heal most deeply when they are met with genuine compassion, thoughtful understanding, and evidence-informed care.
His work with veterans, first responders, couples, families, and individuals affected by trauma led to the development of the Sequential Trauma Narrative (STN), a trauma-informed clinical framework created to help people make sense of their life experiences, strengthen relationships, and move toward meaningful healing.
Although their professional experiences are diverse, the vision that guides Gentle Currents has always been remarkably simple: to create a place where every person is welcomed with dignity, compassion, and hope; where healing begins in safe and respectful relationships; and where every individual’s story is honoured with care.
Everything we do today grows from that shared vision.
Gentle Currents Therapy brings together clinicians with diverse areas of expertise to help meet the mental health needs of Langley and the surrounding communities.
Guided by trauma-informed practice, evidence-informed care, and the Sequential Trauma Narrative, we provide counselling, neurofeedback, clinical supervision, and specialized mental health services for individuals, couples, families, children, adolescents, first responders, veterans, and professionals.
Our clinicians support people navigating trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, burnout, relationship and family concerns, men’s mental health, autism, acquired brain injury, operational stress injuries, grief, and many other life challenges.
While each clinician brings their own training, experience, and areas of focus, our shared commitment is the same: to meet each person with respect, clinical care, and genuine human connection.
We believe that healing is not simply the reduction of symptoms. Healing also involves safety, understanding, relationship, resilience, meaning, and hope.
At Gentle Currents Therapy, care is grounded in the belief that every person has dignity, worth, agency, and the capacity for growth. We seek to provide a space where people can be carefully listened to, thoughtfully supported, and clinically helped to make sense of their experiences, strengthen their relationships, and move toward goals that are meaningful to them.
For some people, that may mean counselling for trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, burnout, or relationship concerns. For others, it may include neurofeedback, family support, couples counselling, clinical supervision, or specialized care for the impact of operational stress, acquired brain injury, autism, or complex life experiences.
Whatever brings someone to Gentle Currents, our desire is to offer care that is compassionate, skilled, respectful, and responsive to the whole person.
In support of Gentle Currents Therapy’s mission, Dr. Michael “Mike” Dadson developed the Sequential Trauma Narrative, a trauma-informed clinical framework that helps people make sense of their life experiences, strengthen relationships, and move toward healing, resilience, and meaningful change.
The Sequential Trauma Narrative reflects a simple but important understanding: people are not problems to be fixed. They are persons with stories, relationships, strengths, wounds, hopes, and possibilities.
This framework supports the clinic’s broader commitment to trauma-informed care by helping people understand how experiences may shape the mind, body, relationships, identity, and sense of meaning — while also supporting a path toward restoration, connection, and hope.
As a place of care, Gentle Currents Therapy exists to help meet the mental health needs of Langley and the surrounding communities by making compassionate, evidence-informed care more accessible, understandable, and relational.
We know that reaching out for counselling can feel like a significant step. Before anyone books an appointment, we want them to have an opportunity to understand who we are, what we value, and the kind of care we seek to provide.
Our hope is that every person who visits Gentle Currents — whether online or in person — feels more oriented, more respected, and more able to discern the path that is right for them.
Every person who comes to Gentle Currents is welcomed with dignity, compassion, and hope.
At Gentle Currents, no one is defined solely by the most difficult chapter of their life. We believe healing can begin when people are met with safety, respect, understanding, and care.
Whether you come seeking counselling, neurofeedback, support for your family, help recovering from trauma, or guidance through a difficult season of life, our hope is that you will experience Gentle Currents as a place where you feel genuinely welcomed, carefully listened to, and thoughtfully supported.
